Important Update: Change in IELTS on Paper Test (Effective from 1st May 2025)
From 1 May 2025, all test takers must complete their written elements of the IELTS on Paper test using a black ink pen.
Pens will be provided by your test centre and personal writing stationery is not permitted. We are making this change to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the test answer scanning process. It helps us to speed up the marking process, so that we can get your results to you as quickly as possible.
You will not be allowed to enter the test room with any writing stationery. If you are found with any unauthorised stationery your paper will not be marked and will lead to immediate disqualification from the test and a ban from taking IELTS for 5 years.
