A Breakdown of Listening Portion of the Michigan English Test
This component of the test has three parts. Each part has a couple of questions. The entire listening test is 35 minutes long. The test takers must answer all questions based on the audio conversation played for them.
The first part of this task has short conversations followed by questions. There are 19 questions in this part of the test.
The second part of this task features extended conversations between two people. Candidates are asked at least 14 questions.
The third part of this test features four sets of short talks. All short talks are delivered by the test taker. Candidates are asked a total of 17 questions related to the content.
A Breakdown of the Speaking Portion of the the Michigan English Test
It is a 10-minute task. The test takers’ verbal responses to audio and video prompts are recorded during the interaction. It is a computer-delivered task that has five tasks divided into two parts.
Part One
The first part of this task has 3 tasks mentioned below:
- First, you are shown a picture. Candidates must describe it in your own words as much as possible.
- Second, candidates must talk about a personal experience related to the picture shown to you.
- Third, candidates must give their opinion related to an image shown.
Part Two
The second part of the task has two tasks. In the first part, candidates are given a situation. They need to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the situation given to you.
Furthermore, they are expected to present convincing arguments on your point of view about the situation given to you during the second part of the task.
